the one where i recommend some things
the daily taryn
a daily writing project about everything and maybe also nothing

Happpppppy Sunday. Tonight, I give you a short list of 5 things I recommend at the moment. It's not comprehensive — it's top of mind.
1. If you like cooking shows, you should watch The Final Table. It's on Netflix, and it's amazing. It's a cooking competition with the best chefs from around the world, and every episode, they have to cook the national dish from a different country. The food looks *so* good, it makes me want to scratch and sniff my tv.
2. If you like apps that are slightly annoying but make you better and healthier, I've got some goodies for you. For budgeting, I use Pennies and I'm obsessed. It allows you to see and track how much you can spend every day to stay in your budgets. For health, I use a few: myfitnesspal for tracking my macros (got 1 month to get hot before Costa Rica), Strong and Sweat to track my workouts (because Costa Rica), and Round for pill tracking — it sends you reminders throughout the day to take different pills/vitamins, and it's lit.
3. If you like yourself, put a time limit on your social media usage. The recent iPhone update included a feature that allows you to choose an amount of time you can spend a day on any category of apps. To stay sane, you should 10000% set one for how long you're on social media (twitter, instagram, etc.). I know you think it's good for you to look around and stay connected and laugh at memes, but we all know deep down that it's making us more sad, more insecure people. Set a time limit, and even if you don't stick to it, it'll be so useful to see how much time you're spending scrolling to death.
4. If you like music, listen to this. It's unreal, and basically all I've been listening to.
5. If you like wild stories, listen to this. It's a nearly unbelievable episode of Armchair Expert about Scott Harrison, the CEO and founder of Charity Water. I knew next to nothing about the charity, and definitely nothing about him going into it, and I'll be honest — his story is really, really crazy.
6. If you like yourself, tell yourself it's okay to have weird days. I had one of those days where my confidence just left the building. It took a one way ticket to nowhere, and I haven't heard from it since. Today, felt not cute. Not fit. Not smart. Not creative. Not good at stuff I want to be good at. Not organized. Not. Not. Not. And it sucked. I'm normally a pretty confident person, but when I feel like way, I actually feel self-conscious about being self-conscious. It's stupid. On days like this, I recommend you tell yourself that there's a season for all things. Nothing is temporary. You will have good days and bad days. You will have days where you think you look like a troll and others where you feel hot AF. You'll have days where you feel like the smartest person in the room and others where you'll forget your own name. You'll have bad days. You'll have good days. But ya know what, you've got a day, and that's pretty great.
Not gonna proofread this, because... it's just one of those days.
Talk tomorrow,
Your friend,
Taryn
