Well well well.
If it isn’t me, A PERSON WHO IS ANOTHER PERSON’S WIFE.
hahahahahahahhaa
That’s so crazy. Wow.
As someone who is not me, you’re probably like, “I mean, you fell in love and got engaged and planned and wedding and then had the wedding, so yes, you’re someone’s wife.”
But as someone who is me, I’m shocked at how shocked I am.
I’m so excited. And relieved? There’s a weird weight-off-my-backness that I wasn’t expecting to feel, and haven’t unpacked enough. I also feel old. Like, it wouldn’t be weird to be called “ma’am” now.
This ma’am is happy, sparked, and feeling a wild amount of inspiration. If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I’m just doing all the things at the moment. Posting a lot more, pushing our podcast, getting back to writing (hello!!). Something about our wedding just gave me this extra umpf that I’d been missing.
It wasn’t the wedding
It was and it wasn’t.
It wasn’t the fact that I had a ceremony about my relationship and said vows and exchanged rings and got served dinner and partied with friends.
It was everything that that meant. It was the people — some having known me from literal birth and some just knowing a little sliver of my existence. Then, the same version of that for Cam. THEN, those people all coming together and dancing together, drinking together, crying together.
Most of all, it was them celebrating us together that really got me.
Them = both mine and Cam’s people
Celebrating = showing up, dancing, listening, laughing, crying
Us = Cam and I. Our love. That we chose to do life together.
Their joy was so palpable, it inspired me about my own love. Which then inspired me about my own life. Which then inspired me about everything in my life.
Here I come
So, you’re about to start seeing a lot more of me. Thanks, as always, for your energy towards the stuff I make.
On quesday, someone asked if I’d share the music we used at our wedding. We created 4 playlists as inspo for our DJs, and they used them and built off them to work around our vibe. Here they are :)
Overall wedding weekend. This was played during rehearsal dinner and shared with all of our guests before the wedding.
Cocktail hour. We wanted a vibe that would get people loosened up and excited to party. It’s such a vibe, I play this little playlist in my car basically every day.
Cutie dinner. These are “sweet bops” we love and thought would be a nice background track to dinner.
After parteeeee. Cam whipped this one together, with the goal of no cheese and all party.
And this is where I leave you. If you read and liked, please tell me somehow — comment, share, whatever. Means the world to hear back from you all!
Talk soon.
your friend,
taryn
your social and life and just who you are make me feel like your bestie and watching your bestie get married is emotional!!! which is exactly how i feel about allll the wedding content. the picture of you and cam at the altar just giggling at each other made me cry. i know it feels cliche but it truly truly inspires me to see people who look like me to do the thing that i grew up never thinking i could do. so much love for you both🤍
Taryn! Congratulations on getting married! I've been following you guys for a while now but I'm a new subscriber and really enjoyed the first newsletter I got. I think I'll feel the same when I get married (which I hope actually happens lol), the feeling of being relieved and old haha. I wonder, did you feel like things have changed? Like I know getting married is a big deal and all, but what do you think feels more different after you actually got married? Can't wait for the next newsletter and I hope you guys are doing great! :)
