Halloween weekend is always a doozy. It sneaks up on you, unassuming and “spooky” and chill — all up until 5 days before. A switch flips.
You spend 4 days panic-searching for the perfect pants to complete your little witchy costume.
You spend 1 day trying on (and re-trying on) your costume that you’re settling with because the better option didn’t get delivered in time.
And finally, day of, you’re either on your couch eating candy in a witch costume waiting for trick-or-treaters, or you’re wasted in a dark packed room guessing if someone is the sun or a ring light.
We did a mix of both with big emphasis on the later. It’s been a minute since Cam and I have had a big hangover day where you order all yours meals in and decide if you need to throw up for all your waking hours. That was our Sunday.
And while it sounds like hell, it was. But it also wasn’t. Multiple times throughout the day, Cam and I would reach our weak, dehydrated hands out at each other to say “I’m actually having fun" or “This feels so nice” or “I love hangover days.”
When you get them, take them
After days of nursing myself back to health and swearing off alcohol until next halloween (which, no, but the thought was cute), I experienced 45 minutes of hell.
A workout class. It was an intervals-based class, where you bounce back and forth between all-out sprints and quick rests to catch your breath. During one of the rests, the instructor reminded me to drop the pride and let myself rest. “You will not perform well if you do not take this rest. You’ll thank yourself later. Rest.”
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but rest is not the opposite of work. It’s a form of work. It’s hard to let yourself sit there and recharge. It’s a challenge to watch yourself drop on the leaderboard while you take the full 20 seconds to catch your breath.
But you’ll be better for it — every single time.
Permission to rest, granted. Take it.
OH.
Cam and I started a podcast. :)
And please — if you want us to have a successful little life talking about our little life, leave a rating. It takes 10 seconds and goes very very far in helping it succeed :)
And that’ll do it
Love yall. Happy week. Go learn about yourself :)
Talk soon.
your friend,

Amen. Well said. No less important to be a pro at resting.
